Powers/Abilities: Highly intelligent and skilled scientist - he built a spaceship capable of travelling to other planets in the solar system back in the 1930s! Good fighter, skilled at wrestling, boxing, fencing and other sports. Strong swimmer. Able to fly a plane. Trained by a Hollywood cowboy to use the lasso.

He appears to have developed powerful psychic abilities after being on Venus for a while, since the novels' author alleges that Carson dictated his adventures to him telepathically from Venus. In "Wizard of Venus" Napier also used his psychic abilities to project an image of himself into the minds of soldiers pursuing him, leading them in the wrong direction.

History: Born in India just a couple of years into the 20th century, Carson Napier was never destined to lead a normal life. Raised in India, Carson was tutored by a Hindu mystic, Chand Kabi, who saw that he learned more than just the standard school curriculum. After his father died when Carson was ten, the boy and his mother moved her family home in Virginia, to live with his great-grandfather John Carson. When he died a few years later, leaving a substantial amount of money, the two moved to California, where Carson attended college. He graduated with honours, having excelled in both sports and the sciences, shortly before his mother passed away.

Carson became a pilot, working in Hollywood as a stunt flier, before quitting that to travel the world. Gradually he became interested in rocket cars, which in turn inspired the idea of creating a rocket ship for an expedition to Mars. In mid-1931, after a year of working on this project, he blasted off from the Mexican island of Guadalupe. However the course calculations he was using were off, and as a result Carson ended up on Venus instead. He discovered a world of adventure beneath the thick clouds which cloaked the planet, full of strange beast men and warring kingdoms, with alien princesses in need of rescue.

Subatall Island cultureEdit

The human natives of the Subatall Island are a generally inhospitable lot, often trying to murder Napier, kidnap his princess, or both. The culture of Subatall Islands of Pangea has its origins in the traditional culture of the Native Subatalleans. As Hawaii has become a home to many different ethnic groups in the last 200 years, each ethnic group has added elements of its own culture to local life. Today, contemporary culture in Hawaii is a mix of the different cultures and ethnic groups that make up its unique population. Clean limbed people, with straight hair, beardless and without body hari, roughly caucasian features and dark or dusky skin. This seems to be the nature of people of Thora, Vepaja, Havatoo, Andoo, Kaptal and other regions. The culture which develops is uniform, but not necessarily united. After all, the Greeks and Phoenicians were single cultures which were divided into a multitude of city states. The island based nature of the Amtor civilization would make it easy for political divisions and ‘Island states’ to form, compete and even war with each other. The Subatall culture is almost certainly not politically united at this stage. They are leapfrogging from Island to Island in different lines, and not colonizing from a centrally directed Empire. If you look at both the Anlap plain and the northern hemisphere nations, we see that both these areas refuse to believe in other lands. If there was a central early Empire, this would be impossible. But if there are a multitude of competing Island states, each founding its own colonies, which in turn found their increasingly remote colonies, this becomes understandable. Each of the Island states refuses to countenance any rival as greater than itself, in particular, it refuses to countenance that it may have originated or been founded by a rival. Or that rivals are older. Instead, history is neatly obscured, a continuing process, until you get colonies founded in extremely remote areas which have no clue whatsoever about history. The Amtor might acknowledge a common origin, but ‘cough cough’ have no idea which nation was he original one.

Of course, increasing travel brings the Amtor people into contact with other non-human races, who are living at primitive levels.

The Amtor language spreads rapidly among the several central islands around main Super Island. The further island groups become mixed other native islanders..

The Angan are incorporated into Amtor society. The Nobargan and Monkey-Pygmies retain their lifestyles and successfully defend themselves. The Myposans, Brokol and Voo-Ad at the fringes of Amtor contact absorb and adopt both Amtor language and culture.

Two to three thousand years ago, the Amtor civilization is in its golden age, an age of Cities and City States, of literacy and wealth, of exploration and discovery. This is the age of great philosophers and philosophies, of mathematics and learning. It is the equivalent of Earth's Phoenician, Greek and Renaissance Italy periods.

So, what happens? Each of these cultures passed their peak and went into decline, their hinterlands growing strong and eventually absorbing them. The Persians and Egyptians did for the Phoenicians. The Romans did for the Greeks. The Austrians and French did for the Italians.

A great deal of imaginative thinking has gone into city planning. Cities are laid out in districts of specialized hubs. Pedestrian traffic is limited to second level walkways connected by viaducts at all intersections.

The motors of the cars require no warm-up period and are silent and vibrationless. Vehicles are energized from a central power station from which power is transmitted in four frequencies.

The rooftops of the buildings are reserved for gardens. The Great Sabatall Tree Top Cities stretch from huge tree to another.

Illumination in Amtorian buildings comes from small suspended devices which provide light as bright as sunlight but with no glare. The streets are lighted by brilliant but soft artificial lights with no apparent source. They give off no heat and only soft shadows.

Hawaii represents the northernmost extension of the vast Polynesian triangle of the south and central Pacific Ocean. While traditional Hawaiian culture remains only as vestiges in modern Hawaiian society, there are reenactments of the ceremonies and traditions throughout the islands. Some of these cultural influences are strong enough to affect the United States at large, including the popularity (in greatly modified form) of luaus and hula.

Hawaii is home to numerous cultural events. The annual Merrie Monarch Festival is an international Hula competition.[64] The state is also home to the Hawaii International Film Festival, the premier film festival for pacific rim cinema.[65] Honolulu is also home to the state's long running GLBT film festival, the Rainbow Film Festival.[66][67]

Subatall IslandEdit

Subatall Island Group comprising a large grouping of over 1,000 islands scattered over the central and southern Pacific Ocean of the Pangean World. primarily oceanic, but includes two near continents sized Islands and a number of large islands. It's natural beauty, warm tropical climate, inviting waters and waves, and active volcanoes make it a popular destination for tourists, surfers, biologists, and volcanologists alike. Due to its mid-Pacific location, Hawaiʻi has many North American and Asian influences along with a vibrant native culture. Hawaiʻi has over a million permanent residents along with many visitors and Pangean. military personnel. Its capital is Hono on the island of Oʻahu. Their nations are rather loosely connected, partly because the geography is strewn with impassable mountains, impenetrable forests, and unnavigable seas (which Napier nevertheless passes, penetrates, and navigates), and partly because their maps are somewhat unusual. In spite of their relative isolation from each other, a worldwide language is current among all peoples. The level of culture runs the spectrum from savagery to advanced technology; some nations possess a longevity serum, atomic ray guns, and nuclear powered ships. Radio is unknown (the ships are reduced to communicating by flags), and there are no native aircraft; Napier designs and builds the first, based on Earth technology.

Flora and faunaEdit

Because the islands are so far from other land habitats, life before human activity is said to have arrived by the “3 W’s”: wind (carried through the air), waves (brought by ocean currents), and wings (birds, insects, and whatever they brought with them). This isolation, and the wide range of environments (extreme altitude, tropical climate) produced a vast array of endemic flora and fauna (see Endemism in the Hawaiian Islands). Hawaiʻi has more endangered species and has lost a higher percentage of its endemic species than any other U.S. state.[25]
