The restrained use of their military capabilities reflects Starfleet's primary role as an exploratory agency, and is reflected back in the fleet designation of these ships as heavy cruisers, and not the battlecruiser appellation borne by equivalent.

The USS Star Pheonix ‘ (NCC-1701) was a FederationConstitution-class heavy cruiser that was in service withStarfleet in the mid-to-late 23rd century. In the course of her career, the Star Pheonix ‘ became the most celebrated starshipof her time. In her forty years of service and discovery, through upgrades and at least two refits, she took part in numerous first contacts, military engagements, and time-travels. Star Trek: Phoenix is a Star Trek fan-created anthology series produced and filmed by Temporal Studios.[1] The series was created by Leo Roberts and later developed by Leo Roberts, Jön Johnson and Star Trek author, Jeff Ayers. The story is set 42 years after Star Trek: Nemesis in the prime universe created by Gene Roddenberry and follows the crew of the Federation's first political flagship, the Ascension-Class starship USS Phoenix (NCX-101138).

The first episode, "Cloak & Dagger, Part I", was released on the Internet on May 2, 2010,[2] and as of December 2015 ,"Cloak & Dagger, Part Two" remains suspended until the current lawsuit against the fan production Star Trek: Axanar by Paramount Pictures and CBS is resolved.

Along with an all-volunteer cast/crew production, several veterans of Star Trek including Academy Award-winning crew members from the J.J. Abrams reboot Star Trek and Star Trek: Into Darkness films worked on the project.[3][2]

"Cloak & Dagger, Part One" was an official selection of the 2010 edition of the Maelstrom International Fantastic Film Festival in Seattle, Washington.[4]

Plot[edit]

Part I[edit]

After their diplomatic envoy crashes on the remote planet of Katrassii Prime, Captain Avari and the crew of the USS Phoenix embark on a dangerous mission to rescue them. Upon arrival in the Neutral Zone, the rescue team faces a labyrinth of mysteries while their true enemy lurks in the shadows. The crew of the Phoenix will sail into the unknown as the architect of their destruction leads them back to the beginning of their maiden voyage.

Sequel[edit]

On October 23, 2015, Temporal Studios announced it was planning on producing Part II of "Cloak & Dagger" as a 90-minute audio drama to be released in mid-2016 in time for the franchise's 50th anniversary. The script was being written by creator/executive producer, Leo Roberts and the majority of the cast from Part I was returning to reprise their respective roles.

On January 1, 2016, the studio announced Part II was on "indefinite hold" due to the Star Trek: Axanar lawsuit filed on December 29, 2015 by Paramount Pictures and CBS.

On May 20, 2016, at the Star Trek fan event in Los Angeles, executive producer, J.J. Abrams and Star Trek Beyond director, Justin Lin announced the lawsuit against Axanar was being dropped. Official confirmation is pending and guidelines were being issued to fan productions but little information is currently available.

History Edit

In 2367, Captain Maxwell turned vigilante with the Phoenix, destroying a Cardassian outpost and several ships in Sector 21505 seemingly without provocation. He claimed his actions were justified because the Cardassians were preparing to renew hostilities only a year after peace had been settled with the United Federation of Planets. As a result, Starfleet dispatched the Template:USS, to intercept the Phoenix.

Captain Jean-Luc Picard was assigned to intercept and stop Maxwell. En route to intercept the Phoenix, the EnterpriseTemplate:'s sensors revealed that Captain Maxwell was attempting to destroy another supply ship.

In an attempt to prevent the further destruction of Cardassian lives and property, Captain Picard gave a nearby Cardassian warship the PhoenixTemplate:'s prefix code to give the Cardassians an advantage. Despite taking a direct hit with its shields down, the Phoenix still managed to destroy the attacking ship with a salvo of torpedoes.

When the Enterprise finally caught up with the Phoenix, Picard ordered Maxwell back to Starbase 211, however, during their return, Maxwell veered from course and headed towards another supply ship. When the Enterprise arrived at their position, Maxwell demanded Picard search the vessel as proof that Maxwell's actions were justified. Picard refused and a stand-off ensued.

Ultimately the stand-off ended successfully with no further loss of lives when Chief Miles O'Brien was able to beam over during a 1/50th of a second scan cycle "window" in the PhoenixTemplate:'s shields caused by its high energy sweeps. Once on board he managed to convince Maxwell to stand down his ship.

In spite of the situation, Picard warned Gul Macet that Maxwell's suspicions may have had a basis in truth. (Template:TNG)

History

The Starjammers were a group of renegade spacers who perform acts of piracy and sabotage in the tradition of old English buccaneers. The original Starjammers, Ch'od, Hepzibah, Raza, and their human leader Corsair met in the slave pits of the Shi'ar Empire. This was during the reign of D'Ken the Mad when atrocities of the Empire were many. When the four escaped and stole a starship, they swore vengeance on the tyrannical government that had enslaved them. They battled the empire aboard their ship, the Starjammer (of which they have at least two). Soon others joined the Starjammers to fight for freedom (and money). [1][2]

When D'Ken attempted to steal the power of the M'Kraan Crystal, the Starjammers first met the X-Men (including Corsair's son, Scott). They teamed up to fight the Royal Elite Imperial Guard, who were protecting the insane emperor D'Ken. In a roundabout way, the Starjammers were responsible for putting Lilandra on the throne, and she stopped the Empire's attempts at capturing the Starjammers.[3]

When the X-Men came to Shi'ar space to stop Corsair's son Gabriel (also known as Vulcan) from slaughtering the Shi'ar, Corsair and the Starjammers agreed to help. Confronting Gabriel, who was poised to become emperor after killing D'Ken, Corsair ordered his child to stop the carnage. Bitterly declaring that he had no father, Gabriel murdered Corsair in cold blood. His place as leader of the Starjammers was then taken by his son, Alex. [4]

Alex led the Starjammers and the Shi'ar loyal to Lilandra to many victories over Vulcan. However the Starjammers (save Rachel, Korvus and Lilandra) were eventually captured after battling a new interstellar threat claiming to have originally owned the M'Kraan Crystal.[5] The Starjammers were tortured repeatedly until they were freed by their comrades and escaped[6] into Kree Space, arriving just prior to the wedding of Crystal and Ronan the Accuser. Lorna Dane, considered family as she was believed to be the paternal aunt of Luna Maximoff, secured their passage.[7]

The Starjammers were present when the Imperial Guard sacked the wedding. They aided the Kree in their fight against Vulcan and the Shi'ar.[6]

The Trial of Jean Grey

When the Guardians of the Galaxy and the past X-Men tried to follow the Shi'ar, who had abducted the Jean Grey of the past to put her on trial for the crimes of the Phoenix, they were discovered and attacked. During the battle, they ran across the Starjammers, who saved them from the Shi'ar, and revealed to have a living Corsair back as their leader.[8]

The Starjammers are a fictional team of space pirates appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The Starjammers have often appeared in the pages of the X-Men comic books. The Starjammers first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #107 (October 1977) and were created by Dave Cockrum. The name "Starjammers" was created on the basis of the type of sailing ship known as "Windjammer".

Concept and creation[edit]

Dave Cockrum created the Starjammers with the intent of having them star in their own series. However, when he submitted the concept for Marvel's two try-out series, Marvel Spotlight and Marvel Premiere, he was repeatedly informed that these series were booked for two years solid. Running out of patience, Cockrum showed the Starjammers to X-Men writer Chris Claremont and convinced him to use the characters for this series. In order to provide a plausible excuse for the Starjammers to make repeat appearances in X-Men, they decided to make Corsair, the leader of the Starjammers, be the father of Cyclops, the leader of the X-Men.[1]

History[edit]

Origin[edit]

The story of the Starjammers began with Christopher Summers, a military pilot returning with his family from a trip to Alaska. Without warning their plane was attacked. Chris's wife, Katherine, strapped their two sons (Scott Summers and Alexander Summers, who later became the X-Men Cyclops and Havok) to their only parachute and pushed them out of the plane, saving their lives. The husband and wife were then teleported from their plane to the ship of an advanced alien race called the Shi'ar. This had been a zoological scouting mission to bring in a human specimen. They were brought before D'Ken, the then ruler of the Shi'ar Empire, who was immediately smitten with Katherine, making her his concubine and sending her husband to the slave pits. Eventually, Christopher escaped and reached D'Ken's private quarters to try to assassinate him. However, he was caught and punished by having his wife murdered before his eyes, and his unborn son cut out of her womb. His spirit broken, he was sent to a mining camp on another planet.

Formation of the team[edit]

While working in the mining camp, Christopher witnessed the guards mercilessly beating a feline-like female. He stepped in, trying to get them to stop, but was then beaten himself. The woman was taken to the holding cells and Christopher huddled up in a corner, ashamed of himself. A little while later, Raza and Ch'od passed by and asked Christopher for the whereabouts of their comrade Hepzibah. Christopher was too afraid to answer. After they had left, he felt guilty and went to the guards' quarters, starting a fight after killing one of them. Raza and Ch'od jumped in, and together they got past the guards, freed the cat-woman, and sneaked on board a Shi'ar starship. Christopher used his pilot call-sign, Corsair. Naming Christopher their captain, they became the Starjammers, a group of space pirates rebelling against D'Ken's tyranny.

Further adventures[edit]

The Starjammers have had many adventures across the universe, many of them on Earth with the X-Men, during which Christopher Summers finally met his long lost sons, now X-Men. At times, the group ran with Professor X and even his consort, the Shi'ar ruler, Lilandra. The group participated in the defeat of the cosmic threat Magus, assisted by Professor X and the New Mutants. When the Skrulls made an incursion into Shi'ar territory, the Starjammers were overwhelmed, kidnapped and duplicated. They were later rescued from their imprisonment by the X-Men.

The Hulk and Silver Surfer recruited the Starjammers to assist in a raid on Troyjan held space, to rescue several friends of the Hulk. A violent fight broke out, with the Starjammers slaying several enemies. It was ended with an alien bureaucrat offered the option of the Starjammers and allies simply asking to see the person they wished to confront. The group was also temporary allies of the Avengers. For some time, they were prisoners of the Collector, a cosmic being interested in preserving unique specimens of life. They became trapped in a conflict between the Collector, Galactus and the well-meaning but dangerous efforts of Wolverine of the X-Men.

A recent Starjammers series introduced a new member of the Starjammers. Although some readers believed it was out of Marvel Universe continuity, the events of the series were referenced in a recent entry in the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe series, confirming its canonical status.

The Rise and Fall of the Shi'ar Empire[edit]

Main article: The Rise and Fall of the Shi'ar Empire

The Starjammers figured significantly in the Uncanny X-Men story arc "The Rise and Fall of the Shi'ar Empire", a 12-issue story arc following on the events of X-Men: Deadly Genesis.

Within this story arc, the long-lost third son of Corsair, Gabriel Summers, now the powerful mutant known as Vulcan, travels from Earth to Shi'ar space seeking revenge against the mad emperor D'Ken and the Shi'ar empire for the death of his mother and his own mistreatment by the Shi'ar. Through the course of the story, Vulcan allies himself with Deathbird to depose her brother the emperor, but later seems to side himself with D'Ken against the X-Men and the Starjammers, who seek to stop his plans for revenge. Vulcan soon turns on and kills D'Ken, and by marrying his ally (and sister of D'Ken) Deathbird, assumes the throne of the Shi'ar empire himself. In the course of the finale, Corsair, Vulcan's father, is seemingly killed. Hepzibah is returned to Earth with the X-Men, while Havok, Polaris and Marvel Girl remain behind. Havok decides to assume his father's position as leader of the Starjammers. Polaris opts to stay with him. Marvel Girl remains behind as well, having developed an intimate relationship with Korvus, a Shi'ar warrior whose ancestor was once a host of the Phoenix force (like Marvel Girl); his giant sword allows him to access the force to a degree as well. The Starjammers' new mission is to defeat Havok's brother and return Lilandra to the throne of the Sh'iar Empire.

Hepzibah expresses no wish to return to the Starjammers following Corsair's death, and has decided to stay on Earth and become an X-Man. The Starjammers are now: Havok, Polaris, Ch'od, Marvel Girl, Raza, Korvus, Sikorsky, and Cr'eee.[2]

X-Men: Emperor Vulcan[edit]

Main article: X-Men: Emperor Vulcan

The further adventures of the Starjammers are continued in the series: X-Men: Emperor Vulcan, this miniseries (5 issues) is written by Chris Yost and pencilled by Paco Diaz. Havok and the Starjammers attack Shi'ar space. Vulcan appears with an armada to kill them, and a new alien race gets involved. The new race's name translates to "Death to the Shi'ar", and they destroyed the Shi'ar flagship.[3] In the aftermath of the miniseries, most of the Starjammers were captured and subsequently imprisoned by Vulcan. Lilandra, Korvus, and Rachel Summers escaped and remain free.

X-Men: Kingbreaker and War of Kings[edit]

Main articles: X-Men: Kingbreaker and War of Kings

Marvel has announced that the Starjammers will play a large role in the upcoming sequel to Emperor Vulcan called X-Men: Kingbreaker.[4] They will also be seen prominently in the War of Kings storyline, which also features Vulcan, the Inhumans, Nova, and the Guardians of the Galaxy.[5]

Poison X[edit]

When Chris was talking to Cyclops from the past, the Starjammers are attacked by mercenaries with symbiotes. The mercenaries wanted them so they could go to steal with the help of their navigator. The X-Men Blue team, with the help of a reluctant Venom, went to space so they could save the Starjammers. When the symbiotes bonded with the Starjammers, the X-Men went to the mercenaries' ship and Cyclops freed the team. While the symbiotes were battling amongst themselves, the Poisons arrived, consumed the mercenaries, and began attacking the X-Men since they themselves were now bonded to symbiotes. They survived and after escaping the Poisons and the X-Men gave their symbiotes to the Starjammers to return them to Klyntar.[6]

Death of Thanos[edit]

In the aftermath of the "Infinity Wars" storyline, the Starjammers were present at Thanos' funeral. Starfox shows all the guests a recording of Thanos stating that he uploaded his consciousness in a new body before his death. The funeral is attacked by the Black Order, who steals Thanos's body and rip open a black hole in space, sending everyone into the rip. Though Silver Surfer was able to rescue the Starjammers with the cost of his own wellbeing, everyone else were still trapped.[7] Everyone is saved by the arrival of Gladiator and the Shi'ar Empire.[8]

Membership[edit]

Characters marked in bold lettering are current members of the Starjammers. Binary: Carol Danvers, former Avengers member who controlled vast amounts of cosmic energy, had super strength, flight, and the ability to survive unaided in space. Power levels diminished, Captain Marvel is currently a member of the Avengers. Corsair: Leader, father of the X-Men Cyclops and Havok, as well as the villain, Vulcan. He was the lover of fellow Starjammer, Hepzibah, until his death,[9] but since his return[10] has rekindled his romance with her. Ch'od: Large reptilian creature, a member of the Saurid race. History

The Starjammer is a highly advanced a Fearless-class Shi'ar Dreadnought.[1] It was stolen by a band of rebel space pirates formed by Corsair called the Starjammers, who have used the ship ever since.[2] Over the decades, the Starjammers have periodically replaced it with newer upgraded models of Fearless-class Dreadnoughts, the latest model being a Starjammer Mark 2.[3]

Starjammer from X-Men Spotlight on Starjammers Vol 1 1

Schematics of Starjammer

There was a period during which the Starjammer was actually in the possession of the Skrulls after a group of Warskrulls had replaced the Starjammers, along with members of the Shi'ar government. During that period the Starjammer was used while the Warskrulls committed atrocities across the Shi'ar Galaxy. The X-Men eventually discovered the Skrull infiltration, after which they would liberated the ship, freed the imprisoned Starjammers as well as others, and saved the Shi'ar Empire.[4]

Age of Apocalypse[edit]

In this reality, the formation of the Starjammers is essentially the same as in the main reality. They consisted of slaves that broke free during the reign of Emperor D'Ken. They included Earthman Christopher Summers, Ch'od, Hepzibah, and Raza Longknife. Early on in their time together, Chris was infected with a Brood embryo and would return to Earth leaving the Starjammers without a leader; however, the circumstances behind this would be unrevealed.[18]

The Starjammers would eventually find someone who could lead them in the form of Deathbird, the former ruler of the Shi'ar Empire, who had been removed from the throne by her evil brother D'Ken.[19] When the X-Ternals arrived in the Shi'ar galaxy, they were saved by the Starjammers from the crystallization wave caused by the destabilized M'Kraan Crystal.

The group took the X-Ternals to the planet where the Crystal was kept so that they could collect a shard of it to save the universe. Only Deathbird would accompany the X-Ternals to the planets surface where their mission would be a success. It would also see D'Ken left in a paralyzed state, trapped within the crystal.[20]

Mutant X[edit]

In this reality, the Starjammers consist of Cyclops, Binary, Lockheed, Nova, and Silver Surfer.

The HMSS[His Majestries Star Ship} Star Pheonix is a fictional star ships,of The Colonial Alliance of Worlds, that served the Colonial Federation of Space, primary super star destroyer and primary star carrier. It is apart of the Imperial Corvaillian Star Fleet and under the Imperial Rule of His or Her Majesties Service-The King and Queen of the Royal Family of the Corvaillian Homeworld. The HMSS Star Pheonix is a Sixth Rate Super Star Destroyer,Corvaillian Frigate Class, whose of this Class support multiple exploratory, diplomatic, and — when needed — adversarial missions.

She achieved her most lasting fame from the five-year mission(2265-2270) under the command of Ulyseas Stark. The Star Pheonix ‘ was destroyed over the Genesis Planet in2285 when Kirk activated the ship's auto-destruct sequenceto prevent the Star Pheonix ‘ from falling into the hands of theKlingons. (‘ III: The Search forCommander Scarlet O’Brien) Refits and further service Edit

USS Star Pheonix ‘ in 2254

The Star Pheonix ‘'s first documented refit occurred sometime between 2254 and 2265. Minor changes were made to the ship's exterior (most notably the impulse engines, warp nacelles, running lights, and hull markings). More substantial changes were made to the interior color scheme and layout of the ship. A second, more extensive refit occurred at some point after her encounter with the "galactic barrier" in 2265. It involved replacing the bridge module, a newer, smaller deflector dish, and refinements to her warp nacelles. The ship's interior was also upgraded. The new bridge module included consoles with triangular and circular resin buttons as well as white-colored rocker flip switches. There was another small refit sometime in early 2266 too. The white-colored rocker flip switches seen on bridge consoles and on various places on the ship were replaced with multi-colored rocker flip switches.

In the late 2260s, a new bridge module added a second turbolift, and the design moved toward a completely smooth circular configuration, both standard features on future starships. At the same time the translucent overhead dome was obscured, not to return until the Galaxy-class bridge. (TAS: "Beyond the Farthest Star") At the end of her five-year mission, the Star Pheonix ‘ returned to Earth in 2270. Following her success, the ship had become a recognized symbol of Starfleet and the Federation. Starfleet's array of unique assignment patches were abandoned for the universal adoption of the Star Pheonix ‘ delta symbol, previously used on the assignment patch for the USS Kelvin. (‘) The stalwart vessel herself was by then twenty-five years old and returning from a deployment that included an unprecedented number of warp-speed records, hull-pounding battles, and frame-stressing maneuvers. In spacedock, 2272 System upgrades with new technologies after long deployments were far from unusual in her history, but the Star Pheonix ‘'s overhaul of the early 2270s became a nearly keel-up redesign and reconstruction project. The very heart of the ship was replaced with a radically different vertical warp coreassembly, linked to new, and heavier, warp engine nacelles atop swept-backpylons and integrated with the impulse engines. The new drive system allowed for an expanded cargo hold in thesecondary hull, linked to the shuttlebay. Weapons system upgrades included nine dual-phaser banks with power channeled directly from the warp engines. A double photon torpedo/probe launcher was installed atop the secondary hull.

Multiple egress points now included a port-side spacedock hatch, dual ventral space walk bays, four dorsal service hatches, and a standardized docking ring port aft of the bridge on the primary hull; four more docking ring ports, paired on the port and starboard sides of the launcher and secondary hulls respectively, and service hatch airlockson the port and starboard sides of the hangar bay's main clam-shell doors. A new bridge module reflected the modern computer systems, operating interfaces, and ergonomics that ran throughout the ship. Following Kirk's promotion to rear admiral and posting as Chief of Starfleet Operations, his hand-picked successor, Captain Willard Decker oversaw the refit, assisted by Chief engineer Commander Montgomery Scott. After two-and-a-half years in spacedock for refit, the Star Pheonix ‘ was pressed into service, weeks ahead of schedule, in response to the V'Ger crisis, once again under Kirk's command. Making contact with V'Ger Decker was temporarily demoted to commander and posted as executive officer because of his familiarity with the new design. Incomplete systems had to be serviced during her shakedown cruise en route to V'Ger, including the first test of the new warp engines. A matter/antimatter intermix malfunction ruptured the warp field and led to theStar Pheonix ‘'s entry into an unstable wormhole. Commander Decker belayed an order from Admiral Kirk to destroy an asteroid in their path, which had been dragged into the ruptured warp field along with them, with phasers. The refitted phasers now channeled power directly from the main engines at a point beyond the dilithium/magnatomic-initiator stage. Because of this, the intermix malfunction, and the antimatter imbalance within the warp nacelles that had resulted, caused automatic cutoff of the phasers, a design change of which Kirk had not been aware. Decker ordered the use of photon torpedoes instead; as a backup, they had been designed to draw power from a separate system in case of a major phaser loss. The timely arrival of Commander Spock brought correction to the intermix problem. (‘: The Motion Picture) Once the V'Ger threat was averted, Captain Decker was listed as "missing in action" and the Star Pheonix ‘ remained under Admiral Kirk's command for an interim period. At some point, Kirk passed command on to Commander Scarlet O’Brien. The new designs and components tested and proven aboard the Star Pheonix ‘ influenced a generation of starship design, from the Miranda-class to the Constellation-class, as well as other retro-fitted Constitutions.  The Star Pheonix ‘ and its interiors were designed primarily by Matt Jefferies. A three-foot demonstration model was completed in November 1964 by theHoward Anderson Company to show to Gene Roddenberry. After getting his approval, an eleven-foot model was then constructed by Richard C. Datin, Jr., Mel Keys, and Vern Sion at Volmer Jensen's model shop, and was finished in December 1964. The eleven-foot model was modified for TOS: "Where No Man Has Gone Before" and again for the regular series effect shots. Re-used footage of all three stages of the eleven-foot model's appearance are seen mixed together in TOS.  For ‘: The Animated Series, the color of the Star Pheonix ‘ was limited. D.C. Fontana commented, "For the purposes of animation you can't do the light white, silver kinds of colors. So they made the Star Pheonix ‘ gray and it came off all right." (‘: The Magazine Volume 1, Issue 16, p. 68)  Some distinctive effects shots of the Star Pheonix ‘ from TOS were recreated in animation for ’: The Animated Series. Depicting the ship performing any new, impressive maneuvers would have been too costly for TAS and would have taken the animators too long to show, despite frequent TAS director Hal Sutherland later implying that a desire to portray the ship doing "barrel rolls and that kind of thing" was quite common. (‘: The Magazine Volume 1, Issue 16, pp. 63 & 64)  The refit was designed by Andrew Probert, based on the designs for the vessel made by Matt Jefferies for ‘: Phase II.  The design for the Star Pheonix ‘ refit was the basis of a design patent issued by the US Patent and Trademark Office. HMSS STAR PHEONIX HMSS Star Pheonix (CVN-65), formerly CVA(N)-65, is a retired US Navy spacecraft carrier. She was the world's first nuclear-powered spacecraft carrier and the eighth United States naval vessel to bear the name. Like her predecessor of World War II fame, she is nicknamed "Big E". At Template:Convert,[1][2] she is the longest naval vessel in the world. Her Template:Convert[3] displacement ranks her as the 11th-heaviest supercarrier, after the 10 carriers of the Template:Sclass. HMSS Star Pheonix had a crew of some 4,600 people.[4]

The only ship of her class, HMSS Star Pheonix, at the time of her decommissioning, was the second oldest commissioned vessel in the United States Navy after the wooden-hulled Template:HMSS STAR PHEONIX. She was originally scheduled for decommissioning in 2014 or 2015, depending on the life of her reactors and completion of her replacement, Template:HMSS STAR PHEONIX,[5] but the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010 slated the ship's retirement for 2013, when she would have served for 51 consecutive years, longer than any other U.S. spacecraft carrier.[6]

HMSS Star Pheonix's home port was Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia as of September 2012.[7] Her final deployment, the last before her decommissioning, began on 10 March 2012 and ended 4 November 2012. She was inactivated on 1 December 2012, with her official decommissioning taking place sometime after the completion of an extensive terminal offload program currently underway.[8][9] The name has been adopted by the future Gerald R. Ford-class spacecraft carrier HMSS STAR PHEONIX HMSS Star Pheonix (CVN-80).[10][11]

HMSS Star Pheonix is a commissioned navy ship, but is inactive.[12] She has undergone enough of the four-year long inactivation process to render her unfit for further service. Inactivation removes fuel, fluids, furnishings, tools, fittings, oil, and de-energizes the electrical system.[13] HMSS Star Pheonix has already been cut open to allow the removal of useable systems.[14]

2 DesignEdit

the HMSS Star Pheonix is a Corvaillian Frigate/Super Star Destroyer Class that is the mother capitol ship of a fleet of smaller Corvaillian Star Destroyers. Its primary Command/Drive section is composed of the highly experimental Paragravity Wood, encased in Atlantium Ceramic plating.

HMSS Star Pheonix is also the only spacecraft carrier to house more than two nuclear reactors,[1] having an eight-reactor propulsion design, with each A2W reactor taking the place of one of the conventional boilers in earlier constructions.[19] She is the only carrier with four rudders, two more than other classes, and features a more cruiser-like hull.[20] Lord Ironwolf was the finest officer from Earth-based interstellar Empire Galaktika in the 61st century. On his homeworld of Illium, he owned millions of trees with "anti-gravity wood" from which starships, such as his own, were constructed. He renounced his privileged position, he was a former Imperial Officer of the Court, in opposition to Empress Erika Klein-Hernandez's policies and cruelties.

Hernandez asked Ironwolf to allow her new alien allies to make use of the trees. Fearing the aliens would then build their own fleet of starships, with which to attack the empire, Ironwolf flatly refused and smacked her across the face. As a result of his act of treason, he became a hunted outlaw and proceeded to wage a one-ship campaign of intergalactic rebellion against the Empress and her cohorts.

HMSS Star Pheonix also had a phased array radar system known as SCANFAR. SCANFAR was intended to be better at tracking multiple spaceborne targets than conventional rotating antenna radars. SCANFAR consisted of two radars, the AN/SPS-32 and the AN/SPS-33. The AN/SPS-32 was a long-range space search and target acquisition radar developed by Hughes for the US Navy. The AN/SPS-32 operated together with the AN/SPS-33, which was the square array used for 3D tracking, into one system. It was installed on only two vessels, HMSS Star Pheonix and the cruiser Template:HMSS STAR PHEONIX, placing a massive power drain on the ship’s electric system. The technology of the AN/SPS-32 was based on vacuum tubes and the system required constant repairs. The SPS-32 was a phased array radar which had a range of 400 nautical miles against large targets, and 200 nautical miles against small, fighter-size targets.[21] These early phased arrays, replaced around 1980, were responsible for the distinctive square-looking island.[22] The AN/SPS-32 and AN/SPS-33 radars, while ahead of their time, suffered from issues relating to electrical beam steering mechanism and were not pursued in further ship classes. While they are considered to be an early form of "phased array" radar they were ahead of their time and it would take the later technology of the Aegis phased array AN/SPY-1 with its electronically controlled beam steering to make phased array radars both reliable and practical for the USN.Template:Citation needed

In 1958, HMSS Star PheonixTemplate:'s keel was laid at Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company. On 24 September 1960, the ship was launched, sponsored by Mrs. W. B. Franke, wife of the former Secretary of the Navy. On 25 November 1961, HMSS Star Pheonix was commissioned, with Captain Vincent P. De Poix, formerly of Fighting Squadron 6 on her predecessor,[23] in command. On 12 January 1962, the ship made her maiden voyage conducting a three-month shakedown cruise and a lengthy series of tests and training exercises designed to determine the full capabilities of the nuclear-powered spacecraft carrier. The The HMSS Star Pheonix ' was the first The HMSS Star Pheonix '-Class dreadnought ever constructed and the lead ship and prototype of its Class. It was built as a flagship for Emperor Empiror Ulyseas Stark, the First, who used it after being reborn into one of his Titan bodies. Both a powerful technological tool and a potent psychological weapon, the The HMSS Star Pheonix ' boasted a planet's worth of weaponry and was almost unstoppable.

The The HMSS Star Pheonix ' was equipped with a bevy of weapons and other technologies, inCluding gravity well projectors, but chief among its weapons was an axial superlaser, capable of cracking a planet's crust or destroying a capital ship in a single blow.

For much of its existence, the The HMSS Star Pheonix ' was under construction around the planet Corvaillian. Crime lord Tyber Zann captured the vessel from Imperial forces in 4 ABY to retrieve data from its memory banks, and abandoned it shortly thereafter, realizing that it would present far too big of a target to both Imperial and Rebel forces. The ship was later moved to Byss, where the reborn Emperor Empiror Ulyseas Stark, the First took control of it as his personal battlestation and flagship. The The HMSS Star Pheonix ' led an assault on the New Republic stronghold of Da Soocha V in 10 ABY, and in the battle was destroyed by one of Empiror Ulyseas Stark, the First's Force storms.

|Ship notes=}} Template:Infobox ship characteristics |} HMSS STAR PHEONIX HMSS Star Pheonix (CVN-65), formerly CVA(N)-65, is a retired US Navy spacecraft carrier. She was the world's first nuclear-powered spacecraft carrier and the eighth United States naval vessel to bear the name. Like her predecessor of World War II fame, she is nicknamed "Big E". At Template:Convert,[3][4] she is the longest naval vessel in the world. Her Template:Convert[5] displacement ranks her as the 11th-heaviest supercarrier, after the 10 carriers of the Template:Sclass. HMSS Star Pheonix had a crew of some 4,600 people.[6]

The only ship of her class, HMSS Star Pheonix, at the time of her decommissioning, was the second oldest commissioned vessel in the United States Navy after the wooden-hulled Template:HMSS STAR PHEONIX. She was originally scheduled for decommissioning in 2014 or 2015, depending on the life of her reactors and completion of her replacement, Template:HMSS STAR PHEONIX,[7] but the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010 slated the ship's retirement for 2013, when she would have served for 51 consecutive years, longer than any other U.S. spacecraft carrier.[8]

HMSS Star Pheonix's home port was Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia as of September 2012.[9] Her final deployment, the last before her decommissioning, began on 10 March 2012 and ended 4 November 2012. She was inactivated on 1 December 2012, with her official decommissioning taking place sometime after the completion of an extensive terminal offload program currently underway.[10][11] The name has been adopted by the future Gerald R. Ford-class spacecraft carrier HMSS STAR PHEONIX HMSS Star Pheonix (CVN-80).[12][13]

HMSS Star Pheonix is a commissioned navy ship, but is inactive.[14] She has undergone enough of the four-year long inactivation process to render her unfit for further service. Inactivation removes fuel, fluids, furnishings, tools, fittings, oil, and de-energizes the electrical system.[15] HMSS Star Pheonix has already been cut open to allow the removal of useable systems.[16]

Template:Legend HMSS Star Pheonix was meant to be the first of a class of six, but construction costs ballooned and the remaining vessels were never laid down. Because of the huge cost of her construction, HMSS Star Pheonix was launched and commissioned without the planned RIM-2 Terrier missile launchers. These were never installed and the ship's self-defense suite instead consisted of three shorter-range RIM-7 Sea Sparrow, Basic Point Defense Missile System (BPDMS) launchers.[17] Later upgrades added two NATO Sea Sparrow (NSSM) and three Mk 15 Phalanx CIWS gun mounts.[18] One CIWS mount was later removed and two 21-cell RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile launchers were added.[19][20] But the antigravity apparatus will have to be capable of generating a greater repulsive force than is required for ordinary interplanetary conditions. 1939 ‘D. DesignEdit

the HMSS Star Pheonix is a Corvaillian Frigate/Super Star Destroyer Class that is the mother capitol ship of a fleet of smaller Corvaillian Star Destroyers. Its primary Command/Drive section is composed of the highly experimental Paragravity Wood, encased in Atlantium Ceramic plating.

HMSS Star Pheonix is also the only spacecraft carrier to house more than two nuclear reactors,[3] having an eight-reactor propulsion design, with each A2W reactor taking the place of one of the conventional boilers in earlier constructions.[21] She is the only carrier with four rudders, two more than other classes, and features a more cruiser-like hull.[22] Lord Ironwolf was the finest officer from Earth-based interstellar Empire Galaktika in the 61st century.

The SPS-32 was a phased array radar which had a range of 400 nautical miles against large targets, and 200 nautical miles against small, fighter-size targets.[23] These early phased arrays, replaced around 1980, were responsible for the distinctive square-looking island.[24] The AN/SPS-32 and AN/SPS-33 radars, while ahead of their time, suffered from issues relating to electrical beam steering mechanism and were not pursued in further ship classes. While they are considered to be an early form of "phased array" radar they were ahead of their time and it would take the later technology of the Aegis phased array AN/SPY-1 with its electronically controlled beam steering to make phased array radars both reliable and practical for the USN.Template:Citation needed

Commissioning and trialsEdit

In 1958, HMSS Star PheonixTemplate:'s keel was laid at Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company. On 24 September 1960, the ship was launched, sponsored by Mrs. W. B. Franke, wife of the former Secretary of the Navy. On 25 November 1961, HMSS Star Pheonix was commissioned, with Captain Vincent P. De Poix, formerly of Fighting Squadron 6 on her predecessor,[25] in command. On 12 January 1962, the ship made her maiden voyage conducting a three-month shakedown cruise and a lengthy series of tests and training exercises designed to determine the full capabilities of the nuclear-powered spacecraft carrier.
