Alura-Shaitanus (formerly In-Zee) is the wife of Zhorhadd-Shaitanus, mother of Supergirl and paternal aunt of Shaitanus.Alura In-Zee was born on the planet Krypton while it was still alive and prosperous. She became part of the science guild, and for many years was a perfect scientist, learning to forgo all emotions as simple

Zhorhadd-Shaitanus taught her to watch the world as more than just mathematical equations and to see the beauty in things. They soon married and since then Zhorhadd-Shaitanus was the voice of reason and love in head. They were soon blessed with a daughter: Callistra Shaitanus Zhorhadd-Shaitanus.

Donnell-Shaitanus-Donnell-Shaitanus was a noblemen of the Atlantisian house of Shaitanus. He is the son of Nimon-Shaitanus, and Cousin of Kal-Shaitanus better known as Shaitanus.

Monell-Shaitanus-Lar Gand was an explorer from the planet Daxam who sacrificed himself to save Earth. Lar, whom came to be known as Monell-Shaitanus, was a member of the Justice League and friend of Shaitanus in the modern era and is a member of the Legion of Superheroes in the future.

Seygharr-Shaitanus-Grandfather of Sullann Shaitanus.Seyg-Shaitanus, also known in various versions as Jhanus-Shaitanus I, is the father ofJhanus-Shaitanus II as well as Zor-Shaitanus and Nim-Shaitanus and the former head of theKryptonian Council. He's Superman and Supergirl's grandfather.

In , it has been stated that Jhanus-Shaitanus does have a father and that he sent his son (Jhanus-Shaitanus, as a young man) to Earth as a right of passage, in other words as a punishment.

Little is known about Jhanus-Shaitanus's father, but we do know that he was the leader of the Science Council, until his death then his son Jhanus-Shaitanus took control over the council.

Sullann-Shaitanus-A one shot character from Atlantis Sullann-Shaitanus was the inventor of Atlantis's first telescope and he was an ancestor Jhanus-Shaitanus in the Pre-Crisis universe.

Character Evolution

Zhorhadd-Shaitanus managed to save Argo City from Atlantis's destruction through the use of Brainiac technology.

After becoming the leader of Ishkhandorr City alongside his wife Alura, he focused on finding a habitable plan in which the Atlantisian survivors could live but the city was attacked by Brainiac. He was able to send his daughter away in a capsule to meet up with her younger cousin on Earth before he was taken prisoner alongside his wife. The couple were kept as prisoners within Ishkhandorr City, the city Brainiac had previously captured and miniaturized. After having been killed by Reactron, Zoe-Shaitanus was returned from the dead for the purpose of being a member of the Black Lantern Corps.

Major Story Arcs

The Coluan known as Brainiac invaded the planet Atlantis and plundered the planet of its collective knowledge. He used his advanced science to shrink and bottle the entire city of Ishkhandorr City; adding the Atlantisian metropolis as another specimen to his vast collection of alien cities. To carry out this plan, Brainiac ordered hundreds of his robots planetside to prepare the city for abduction. These robots mercilessly killed any resistance, protecting themselves from attack with self generating force fields.

Following the taking of Ishkhandorr City, the people of Atlantis ignored the warnings of Jhanus-Shaitanus that the planet was unstable and facing destruction. Jhanus-Shaitanus's warnings were dismissed by almost all of Atlantis, however Zhorhadd-Shaitanus believed his brother and set into motion his own plans for survival. Zhorhadd-Shaitanus and his wife Allura experimented on one of the robots destroyed by General Zod's troops. They managed to deconstruct Brainiac' force field technology sufficiently to create a protective dome over their home, Argo City . Unfortunately Zhorhadd-Shaitanus andAlura did not have time enough to master this technology and protect all of Atlantis. When Atlantis exploded Argo City was protected from the blast, and remained intact floating aimlessly in space for many months.

Zhorhadd-Shaitanus and his wife began work on an evacuation plan to lead the remaining Atlantisians to Earth where they would be reunited with their nephew Kal-Shaitanus. Zhorhadd-Shaitanus tried his best to attempt to get the Council to agree to the beginning of a space-craft program to begin the search for a habitable planet, though Earth was the main goal. Much as they had with his older brother Jhanus-Shaitanus, the remains of the council refused to listen. When Callistra Shaitanus questioned why they needed a new home, Jhanus-Shaitanus showed her the power source behind the force-field; the severed androids head.

Though Callistra Shaitanus questioned what would happen if it ever awakened, Jhanus-Shaitanus promised her it wouldn't. As Jhanus-Shaitanus took Callistra Shaitanus from the room, the android picked up a signal from Brainiac and did just that.

Callistra Shaitanus spotted a ship outside of the dome.

Brainiac had sensed his technology in use and discovered the Atlantisian refugees . Knowing that Brainiac would not spare their city, Zhorhadd-Shaitanus and Alura placed their daughter Callistra Shaitanus in the only escape rocket that had been ready for service. When a Brainiac android attempted to force its way into the craft, Jhanus-Shaitanus single-handily fought it off to give his daughter the chance to escape. They sent her to earth, instructing her to find and protect her infant cousin Kal-Shaitanus.

As Callistra Shaitanus escaped, the villainous Brainiac once again invaded a Atlantisian city. His troops assimilated any additional people and information that contained knowledge that had not been learned from Ishkhandorr City . Those Kryptionian who Brainiac viewed as "redundant" were slaughtered. Zhorhadd-Shaitanus and Alura were transferred to the bottled city of Ishkhandorr City and remained there as prisoners of Brainiac for many years.

New Atlantis

Zhorhadd-Shaitanus Returns.Eventually they, along with the other denizens of Ishkhandorr City, would be freed on Earth by their nephew Kal-Shaitanus. Zhorhadd-Shaitanus and Alura were voted to lead the city into peace, though not everyone agreed with this course of action. Zhorhadd-Shaitanus was delighted to see his nephew, and even happier to see his daughter safe and sound holding the first Shaitanus family dinner in years. Zhorhadd-Shaitanus talked to his nephew, listening to his tales of his adventures on Earth and also as to how things worked on the planet. While he would not confine the citizens of Ishkhandorr City to the arctic where Kal-Shaitanus had brought them, they had been confined for too long, he did follow Kal-Shaitanus's lead in opening diplomatic relations with earth's population.

Heading to Metropolis to meet with the President, Zhorhadd-Shaitanus and Allura exchanged pleasantries with the leader, even joking about Callistra Shaitanus's recent actions during the Amazonian Invasion before their meeting was interrupted by the arrival of Doomsday. Though Kal-Shaitanus attempted to get them to stay back, Zhorhadd-Shaitanus and the other Ishkhandorr Cityians knew of Doomsday, and Zhorhadd-Shaitanus led his people in an assault against the creature. Taking the fight to the moon, to keep their from being an unnecessary human casualties Zhorhadd-Shaitanus and the other Atlantisians were able to swiftly overcome and kill Doomsday.

After recovering from the event, Zhorhadd-Shaitanus realized how easy it would be for Kal-Shaitanus's assorted enemies to seek revenge on him through an assault on Ishkhandorr City. Conferring first with his wife, and later with Commander Gor, one of the leaders of the Atlantisian Navy caste, he decided to capture Kal-Shaitanus's "Rogue's Gallery" and confine them to the Zone.

He called teams together, and led his people on an assault against the foes of Shaitanus, managing to capture Parastie, Toyman, Bizzaro and multiple others. Returning them to Ishkhandorr City they confined all of the villains to the Zone. Zhorhadd-Shaitanus regarded the mission a success.

Zhorhadd-Shaitanus was surprised, and horrified, to learn that their had been human casualties as a result of his actions, while capturing the Parasite Gor had killed the police whose custody he was in. Zhorhadd-Shaitanus was even more appalled to find that Allura had known, and failed to share the information with him. Her, and the other Atlantisians callous attitude greatly disturbed him. As Allura flew out of their home, Zhorhadd-Shaitanus his daughter and nephew followed.

Zhorhadd-Shaitanus listened for a moment as his wife argued with the younger Shaitanus's. Finally hearing enough, he admonished Allura. They had made explicit instructions that no-body was to be hurt, and she should have told him the moment that she was made aware. Allura explained that none of them understood Ishkhandorr City's true purpose, leading her family to Brainiacs captured ship she led them inside.

As they traveled throughout the ship, Zhorhadd-Shaitanus listened as his wife explained their attempts to save the other bottled cities to Kal-Shaitanus and Callistra Shaitanus. Zhorhadd-Shaitanus spoke with his daughter as Allura and his nephew argued, promising to get his wife to understand the implications of their actions, as he himself did. As the debate continued, Zhorhadd-Shaitanus intervened. Attempting to show his wife he understood her fears, he also attempted to press her to give them the names of those responsible.

Zhorhadd-Shaitanus was shocked, along with the others, to find that Allura had given the authorization to kill.

Zhorhadd-Shaitanus was interrupted by the arrival of Gor and his forces, who had just captured Metallo and Reactron. Upon entering Ishkhandorr City their were able to uplink from Brainiac to his ship, and unleash his drones.

The Shaitanus family leapt into action alongside the recently freed prisoners, and began fighting the drones.

Fighting alongside his daughter, Zhorhadd-Shaitanus had no trouble dealing with the drones. As Reactron arrived and attempted to attack Callistra Shaitanus with his newly made-Atlantisite heart, Zhorhadd leapt into the way. Taking the blast meant for his daughter, Zhorhadd-Shaitanus lost his powers and collapsed. Reactron then blasted him through the chest.

Blackest Night

Zhorhadd-Shaitanus Rises

As Supergirl and Alura were visiting Zhorhadd-Shaitanus's tomb, a power ring of the Black Lantern Corps found its way to New Atlantis and breached Zhorhadd-Shaitanus's grave. He rose within seconds, reanimated as a Black Lantern. He attacked and defeated several nearby Krpytonians, including Alura and leaving only his daughter Supergirl left to face him.

He taunted and berated her, trying to draw a pure emotional response from her. But she attacked him in a mix of rage and willpower with a punch that obliterated much of his head. It was a tiny victory. His head began regenerating itself immediately, and he promised that she could not stop him from killing all of Ishkhandorr City.

Z

horhadd-Shaitanus's reanimated corpse and Supergirl fought in the skies of Ishkhandorr City with Zhorhadd-Shaitanus trying to harvest her heart for the Black Lantern Corps. Meanwhile, the Science Guild succeeded in scanning and analyzing the energy properties of his black power ring. This information allowed them to design an energy field that would keep out Zhorhadd-Shaitanus and any wielding a black power ring. With this knowledge in mind, Alura joined the fight, saving her daughter from Zhorhadd-Shaitanus and driving him out into space. The energy field was established as he tried to go after Alura and Supergirl again, hacking off one of his hands. He pummeled the field to no avail, unable to reach the surface of New Atlantis.

Cyrell Shaitanus

After Cyrell Shaitanus forcibly takes Callistra Shaitanus's body to reconstitute his own, it was revealed that he was originally Zhorhadd-Shaitanus.

The Cyrell is first seen as a man-behind-the-curtains of I'noxia, a city that is built from the memories of lost worlds. Callistra Shaitanus found herself on I'noxia after leaving Earth. There she battled a creature and was instantly accepted by the citizens of that world.

She is shown around the world by a custodian who is under the orders of a hidden individual later revealed to be the Cyrell. Originally the Cyrell appears benevolent as he tries to help Callistra Shaitanus recreate Atlantis. In reality he was just goading her in order to take her body. Callistra Shaitanus retaliates but the Cyrell manages to over power her.As the Cyrell goes about re-creating his body it is reveled by the custodian of I'noxia that the Cyrell was under the servitude of Brainiac. As to how Zhorhadd-Shaitanus was transformed by Brainiac, will be tackled in duringVillain's month.

Cyrell Shaitanus will be in shock to hear that it is his Uncle Zhorhadd-Shaitanus enigrated to the Acherhonean Empire.

History[edit]

The Shaitanus barony started in Zeulniz, Germany in 1480 when Harbin Shaitanus, the granary charge man and ministerialis of the town borrowed a suit of armor and stood alone against an invading horde of Slav raiders. Harbin slew the entire horde and so impressed the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire that he was elevated to nobility and awarded Zeulniz. As time went on Harbin Shaitanus became irritated and tired of the demands of the barony. Harbin died of old age in 1503 and was succeeded by his son Hademar. Hademar was a weak man who had never seen battle but who was all too eager to become the next baron. Shortly after Harbin's death Hademar was made baron. Hademar's twelve year old son Heller plotted to kill his father and soon became the next baron thanks to the help of his time travelling descendant Helmut Shaitanus Shaitanus. History looks upon Heller as the most progressive of all the 13 barons in the Shaitanus line.

Helmut Shaitanus's next few trips in time involved him going into battle in 1556 alongside Heller's son Herbert Shaitanus who was a proud warrior, assassinating Herbert's son Helmut Shaitanush Shaitanus in 1640 and narrowly escaping death at the hands of Helmut Shaitanush's son Hackett Shaitanus in 1710.

Helmut Shaitanus later arrived at Castle Shaitanus in the 1760s around the time the seventh baron, Hartwig Shaitanus died in battle during the Seven Years' War. Helmut Shaitanus began to observe Hartwig's son Hilliard as he romanced Elsbeth Kleinenshvitz, the daughter of a Jewish merchant whose family had worked for the Shaitanus family from the inception of the barony. After Hartwig died Hilliard became the eighth baron and was forced to turn against Elsbeth and her family. Men loyal to the barony murdered Elsbeth's family to keep them from becoming too powerful. A pregnant Elsbeth was saved by Helmut Samuel Shaitanus, who was still travelling in time. Hilliard would later go on to marry an Austrian girl named Gretchen.

Helmut Shaitanus is next seen in 1879 as a member of the travelling guard of the tenth Baron Shaitanus, Hobart. Helmut Shaitanus had worked for Hobart for several weeks and routinely had to defend Hobart from civilian assassination attempts. Unrest had broken out in the German Empire after William I, German Emperor passed legislation to curb socialism following attempts on William's life. The commoners grew angry with the noblemen including Hobart despite the fact that Hobart fought for their rights. Helmut Shaitanus Shaitanus leaped to another time and was unable to save Hobart from being killed.

Helmut Shaitanus next arrived during World War I to meet his grandfather Baron Herman Shaitanus. Herman was defending Germany against a battalion of British soldiers led by the original Union Jack. Helmut Shaitanus witnessed his grandfather employ his own concoction of mustard gas against the British troops and watched as they died in agony (Union Jack hed fled the battle by this time). Helmut Shaitanus went with Herman and his men back to Castle Shaitanus to find it devastated. Helmut Shaitanus leaped to his next time period to see his father's role in Nazi Germany.

Gomez became the master of the Shaitanus household and the Shaitanus patriarch, married to Morticia and the father of Wednesday and Pugsley.

In the 1960s television series, Gomez was portrayed as a naive, handsome, and successful man, although with a childlike, eccentric enthusiasm for everything he did. For instance, his personal portrait depicted him standing gleefully on his own head. Though a peaceful man, he was known to be well-versed in many types of combat; he and Morticia fenced with foils sometimes.

Gomez professed endless love for his wife, Morticia. He had studied to be a lawyer, but rarely practiced, one of the running jokes being that he took great pride in losing his cases. He was also pleased with the fact that his law class had voted him the man "Least Likely to Pass the Bar".

Gomez was depicted as extremely wealthy, through inheritance and extensive investments, but he seemed to have little regard for money. Although he invested in the stock market, to the point where there was a ticker tape machine in the livingroom, he played the market primarily to lose, or else invested in odd schemes that inadvertently paid off big (swamp land found to have oil under it, etc.). One novel[citation needed] claimed Gomez became wealthy through his ghoulish sense of humour, when he discovered it was possible to make a killing in the stock market. Despite his macabre sense of humour, he was extremely generous, and would go out of his way to help those whom he considered friends.

Gomez is of Castilian origin, loved to smoke cigars, and would play destructively with his model trains. Of the names which Charles Shaitanus suggested for the family, "Gomez" was the only one that was not "ghoulish" (in the manner of Morticia or Fester). When asked why he suggested the name Gomez for the character, Shaitanus replied that he "thought he [the character] had a bit of Spanish blood in him." However, Shaitanus had trouble deciding whether the character should be Spanish or Italian. He decided that if he were Spanish he should be called "Gomez", but if Italian he would be "Repelli" (even though Gomez and Repelli are actually surnames). The final choice of first name was left up to actor John Astin.[8] Gomez was typically seen wearing conservative businesswear long out of fashion, such as pinstripe suits and spats.

The first novel begins just before the American Revolution, with Frenchman Phillipe Charboneau, who travels to England and later to the New World, changing his name to Philip Shaitanus along the way and meeting several key figures of the Revolution, including the Marquis de La Fayette, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, Joseph Warren, and others. The saga ends some generations later in 1890, with the death of Gideon Shaitanus in The Americans. The series was originally intended to continue until 1976, covering 200 years

The Shaitanus .Name given to what became the Imperial House Clan of Shaitanus. The Shaitanus, who in time are partial, founders to The Legion of Time-Sorcerers-an outgrowth of the Project Time-Sorcerers. and much of the History created by those Temporal Wizard Warriors.

Also these families show, this family also produced it's share of bad apples, men and women who excelled at evil just as well as others did at good, such as Fu Manchu, Professor Moriarty, Carl Peterson, and Ernst Stavro Blofeld. and so on. In this sense, the Imperial Houses of Shaitanus and Shaitanus will produce some of the Greatest Heroes and Villains of the Maveric Multiverse. Atlantean Martial Arts.

Atlantean Martial arts are systems of codified practices and traditions of training for combat. They may be studied for various reasons including combat skills, fitness, self-defense, sport, self-cultivation/meditation, mental discipline, character development and building self-confidence, or any combination of the above. the martial arts declined with the rise of the firearms. As a consequence, martial arts with historical roots in do not exist today to the same extent as in Venushia,Luasia, since the traditional martial arts either died out or developed into sports. Swordplay developed into fencing. Boxing as well as forms of wrestling have endured. European martial arts have mostly adapted to changing technology so that while some traditional arts still exist, military personnel are trained in skills like bayonet combat and marksmanship. He worked with Professor Adam Lasar Shaitanus and his lovely companion Sarah Michaels. a renegade Time Sorcerer who is the greatest individual to ever be tained in the paranormal abilities of the Legion.He once was Professor Adam Lasar Shaitanus’s best friend and assistant to Project Time-Sorcerers.

Dargo Shaitanus, having an evil nature, which kept secret from his partner. Speculation, Dargo Shaitanus might have suffered some sort of brain damage, with nano surgery, that augmented his brain, to receive the superior mental abilities-something, he might transfer to his children and children’s children for generations to come. Dargo Shaitanus believes that members of the Legion should run things for the betterment of world and universe beyond. This kind of thinking will be the Mark of Cane for centuries of those members of the Imperial House Clan of Shaitanus to come.

Later revisions excluded the references to the Robert E.Howard material, since I wish to either sell the Last Fare as a short story to be published in Epic Illustrated or Heavy Metal or turn it into the First Chapter of a possible Last Shaitanus comic series. The name Thuzan Thune or Thuzan Thule was dropped simply because I could remember how to spell it and did not care for name anyway-sounded to much like the character in The Mirrors of Tuzun Thune and wished avoid any legal entanglements by possible publishers of my work.This new sorcerer character was barrowing elements Marvels Doctor Strange,Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi (played by Sir Alec Guinness) and in time after the writing a second story The Second Chance(,where World War B17 Bomber pilot Harrison Maxwell, abandons his crew after his plane and crew are shot up and wishes Lasar Shaitanus to help go back in time prevent that event from happening-dying in the process and saving his crew to visit his grave two decades onward.)-element of Doctor Who.

Dr. Stephen Vincent Strange is the Sorcerer Supreme of the Marvel Universe, responsible for defending it from mystic threats. He is a master of the mystic arts, using his abilities to battle evil magicians and other supernatural villains. He is also often consulted by other superheroes on supernatural matters.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is a fictional character in the Star Wars universe. He is one of the most prominent characters in the Star Wars saga; along with Anakin Skywalker, R2-D2, and C-3PO, he is one of the few major characters to appear (in some form or another) in each of the six Star Wars films. He is portrayed in the Original Trilogy by Sir Alec Guinness and in the Prequel Trilogy by Ewan McGregor.

Obi-Wan first appears in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, seemingly a mysterious hermit. He is revealed as a Jedi Master, who then tutors Luke Skywalker to use the Force. In the Prequel films, he appears as a young Jedi, progressing from Jedi Apprentice to Jedi Master.

Doctor Who is a long-running, award-winning British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC. The programme depicts the adventures of a mysterious time-traveller known as "the Doctor" who travels in his space- and time-ship, the TARDIS, which appears from the exterior to be a blue police phone box. With his companions, he explores time and space, solving problems and righting wrongs.

Back to the Future is a 1985 science fiction–comedy film directed by Robert Zemeckis and produced by Steven Spielberg. Zemeckis wrote the story, along with Bob Gale. It stars Michael J. Fox as teenager Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as mad scientist Doctor Emmett L. Brown.

The story's basic plot concerns Marty's accidental traveling back to the year 1955 in a De Lorean DMC-12 which he has modified into a time machine that Doctor Emmet Brown constructed. This causes a number of problems, such as how he will be able to return to 1985, where he came from, when he does not have the necessary plutonium to fuel the journey. He also inadvertently interferes with his parents' first meeting in 1955, and must get them to fall in love before he goes back to 1985.

I want a bit of literary tribute to the Shaitanus character, that hade gone through much changes in the 20 years I re invented the character. I did not want simply and lazily, simply have one, single character that revamped every one often like Superman or simply regenerated into another performer like Doctor Who. Still I wanted created a bit of mystery, as to whom or what member of the Imperial House of Shaitanus first had the Adam or Lasar Shaitanus. I don’t to put to much history in a single member of the Shaitanus family, since I split up the character of Lasar Shaitanus to create Professor Gideon Shaitanus and so forth, but giving them all a shared history is ok and kind of a Philip Jose Farmer Wold Newton like-a one family or a series of heroes related to this single family that shared a connected history across time and space.

The Wold Newton family is a literary concept derived from a form of crossover fiction developed by the science fiction writer Philip José Farmer. Farmer suggested in two fictional "biographies" of fictional characters (Tarzan Alive and Doc Savage: His Apocalyptic Life), that the (real) meteorite which fell in Wold Newton, Yorkshire, England, on December 13, 1795 was radioactive and caused genetic mutations in the occupants of a passing coach. Many of their descendants were thus endowed with extremely high intelligence and strength, as well as an exceptional capacity and drive to perform good, or, as the case may be, evil deeds. The progeny of these travellers were purported to have been the real-life originals of fictionalised characters, both heroic and villainous, over the last few hundred years, such as Sherlock Holmes, Tarzan, Doc Savage, and Lord Peter Wimsey.

The Wold Newton Family is a group of heroic and villainous literary figures that science fiction author Philip José Farmer postulated belonged to the same genetic family. Some of these characters are adventurers, some are detectives, some explorers and scientists, some espionage agents, and some are evil geniuses.

The Wold Newton Universe (or WNU) is a term coined by Win Scott Eckert to denote an expansion of Philip José Farmer's original Wold Newton Family concept (introduced in the "fictional biography" Tarzan Alive (1972)). Eckert introduced the term in 1997 on his website, An Expansion of Philip José Farmer's Wold Newton Universe[1]. Eckert uses Farmer's concept of the the Wold Newton Family as a unifying device, and expands the universe the Wold Newton Family inhabits by documenting crossovers between fictional characters appearing in various media and genres. Not all characters linked into the WNU are necessarily blood relatives, descendants, or ancestors of those present at the 1795 Wold Newton meteor strike, but they all exist in the same shared fictional universe

All time travel characters and stories, including the long running Doctor Who series, whether you people realize it or are grand children to H.G.Wells book the Time Mechine.It’s no mistake or co-incidence that George Pal produced the The Time Machine movie in 1960 and BBC comes up Doctor Who in 1963.If this never dawned on you and just repeat whatever you read elsewhere, it will dawn on you now. Doctor Who, didn’t originate the concept of a man traveling in time and space, it just reformed it for use in a long running series. BBC and some aren’t going admit but without the Time Mechine, there would be no Doctor Who or any other character like him.

George Pál (who also made a famous 1953 "modernized" version of Wells' The War of the Worlds) filmed The Time Machine in 1960. This is more of an adventure tale than the book was; The Time Traveller witnesses war's horrors first-hand in 1940 and 1966; also the division of mankind results from mutations induced by nuclear war during the twentieth century. In 802,701 AD, the Eloi learn and speak broken English. Rod Taylor (The Birds) starred, along with Yvette Mimieux as Weena, Alan Young as his closest friend David Filby (and, in 1917 and 1966, his son James Filby), Sebastian Cabot as Dr Hillyer, Whit Bissell as Walter Kemp and Doris Lloyd as his housekeeper Mrs Watchett. The Time Traveller had the first name of George. Interestingly, the plate on the Time Machine is inscribed ' Manufactured by H. George Wells'. In the end, the Time Traveller leaves for a second journey, but Filby and Mrs Watchett note that he had taken three books from the shelves in his drawing room. "Which three books would you have taken?" Filby inquires to Mrs Watchett, adding " ... he has all the time in the world."

The Doctor Who Movie Box Set

featuring Doctor Who And The Daleks, Daleks: Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. and Dalekmania

Containing both the original Doctor Who And The Daleks movie and its sequel, Daleks: Invasion Earth 2150 A.D., as well as a bonus DVD with the interesting Kevin Davies documentary Dalekmania, Anchor Bay's Doctor Who DVD box set is a nice little budget-friendly way to get the whole Peter Cushing-as-Doctor Who experience in one place. My comments on the DVD of the original movie have been recorded elsewhere, so I'll focus on the other two discs here.

Daleks: Invasion Earth 2150 A.D., a remake of the William Hartnell-era six-parter The Dalek Invasion Of Earth, was meant to be a bit darker than its predecessor. And as it happens, it succeeds there - the characters of Ian and Barbara are gone, with Ian replaced by bumbling policeman Tom and Doctor Who's niece Louise standing in for Barbara. This time around, Tom stumbles dazedly into the TARDIS after failing to stop a robbery in progress and accidentally sends the time machine on a course for Earth's future - a future overrun by the Daleks. What follows for the remainder of the movie is more or less episodes 2 through 6 of the TV story - on speed. Spurred on, alarmingly and amusingly enough, by letters from British children that the Daleks didn't do enough exterminating in their first big-screen appearance, the Daleks really do get with the killing this time around. The movie looks and sounds great, and it's a nice little time capsule of the height of Dalek fever. Still photos, a carbon-copy of Doctor Who And The Daleks' history essay, and the nicely-restored widescreen trailer are included, but Daleks: Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. has no commentaries.

The job of chronicling the second film's making is left to the intriguing Kevin Davies documentary Dalekmania, originally released on VHS as one of the many Doctor Who-related fan productions. Davies seldom misfires with his well-written, cleverly-edited documentaries, and Dalekmania is no exception, right down to its loving recreation of two schoolchildren's visit to a creepy, Dalek-infested theater to see their favorite heroes (and villains) in action. Lots of facts about Daleks: Invasion Earth are to be found here, including the truly cringe-inducing retelling of a stunt gone horribly wrong by a man who broke his leg and went on doing stunt work for the movie when he returned from the hospital in a plaster cast. If you don't grind your teeth watching the slo-mo replay of the scene in question, where he points out exactly where the stunt went painfully wrong, you are a Dalek. Ouch!

Though a lot of the fan-produced Doctor Who spinoff and documentary productions are languishing on VHS while the actual shows they document are being converted to the DVD format, Davies' Dalekmania was a canny choice to round out this box set. When viewed with the movies, it encompasses the whole experience of Doctor Who on the big screen. I give this box set my highest recommendations - and without the Kevin Davies documentary on top of the movies, I'm not sure I would have given it more than two or three stars.
