  • The Gravity Hammer is quite huge and visible, so when wielding it as a primary or secondary weapon, you risk making yourself a prime target for snipers.
  • If you swing the hammer too slowly or out of range, it will push your opponent back, making it harder for you to finish him off and easier for him to counter your attack.
  • The glowing blue (Halo 3) or orange (Halo: Reach) vents at the top of the weapon are still visible when a player has Active camouflage engaged
  • The large area of effect of the weapon means that using it in tight quarters with friendly players is highly inadvisable.
  • An enemy wielding a Shotgun can easily take down a player with the Gravity Hammer before he has time to swing.
  • While the Gravity Hammer takes only 5% energy for a swing compared to the Sword's 10% depletion, the sword only wastes energy when it hits while the Hammer wastes with every swing regardless of if it hits or not. As of Halo: Reach, the hammer takes much more than 5%.
  • If the Gravity Hammer is being used as a player's secondary weapon, you cannot swing momentarily as it is wielded. The character must have rested his right hand on the handle before a swing can be attempted. This is similar to the Energy Sword having to ignite before a lunge is possible and might have been added due to balancing issues.

    • The Gravity Hammer has a very high damage percentage against enemies, even on higher difficulties, and is capable of one hit kills.
    • Because of the Gravity Hammer's raw power, it is considered among the best ways to destroy infantry vehicles.
    • Can propel enemies backwards after a long range hit, allowing for an effective kill with a ranged weapon.
    • The Gravity Hammer has the destructive power to provide a sufficient melee kill after its battery has been depleted.

MultiplayerEditEdit

  • The Gravity Hammer is best used as a secondary weapon to pull out if faced with nearby foes on a ledge, an incoming vehicle, or a grenade coming towards the player. The Hammer is apt at dealing with all three of these threats.
  • The Gravity Hammer's blast can go through walls and floors, and this can be used to hit players in an adjacent room.
  • The Gravity Hammer can be used to propel the player higher than normal, if the player times the attack as they jump, it will elevate them farther and higher. You can gain just as much height as a grenade jump with no risk.
  • The Gravity Hammer is also one of the only two weapons available in the Grifball gametype along with theEnergy Sword. It is the cause of many betrayals, however you can also "ride the wave" and use your enemy's gravity hammer to launch yourself to their goal.
  • Using the hammer you can easily deflect and change course incoming light vehicles, such as mongooses, ghosts, and warthogs. If you plan on doing so, make sure to swing it only before the targeting figures turns red, which will cause you to lunge at it and get splattered before the hammer unleashes its shockwave.
  • If you time the shock wave from the hammer at the right time you can send a Rocket Launcher missile andMissile Pod missile in another direction.
  • The Hammer may be known as a great CQB weapon, but it is slower to compete against the Shotgun. Also, even though the energy sword lunges slightly slower, it has a farther lunge and can parry your attacks, but you cannot parry the sword carrier's attacks. If you find yourself up against one of these weapons, create space between you and your opponent (you can knock him back with the shockwave if he's too close) and change to a long-range weapon to take down the enemy. It is important to remember that Mauler wielders are considered easy targets for the Gravity Hammer.
  • Try combining a Gravity Hammer jump and grenade jump to get to spots that aren't normally reachable for an advantage.
  • It is possible to stick a Plasma or Spike Grenade on the end of the Hammer.
  • A well timed swing can also stop an energy sword charge leaving the opponent open to attack for a brief period of time.

Weapon BasicsEdit

RangeEdit

The Gravity Hammer's main attack, and overhead downwards smash, kills most opponents within Melee distance in one hit. You do not have to be locked on, but doing so will help you by preforming a lunge. When using the Gravity Hammer's main attack, a small burst of the energy from the attack is released, forming a "splash damage" zone all around you. The range of the energy bursts is around that of the Shotgun's shots.

AccuracyEdit

While it may seem illogical to rate the Hammer's accuracy, it is actually there. When swinging the Hammer, a burst of energy is released. Enemies in your reticule will receive the most damage and pushback, while those to the left and right of the reticule will receive minor damage and pushback, and those to your sides and behind you will only be affected if they are right next to you.

Fire Rate + Ammo SupplyEdit

The Gravity Hammer's attack takes a bit longer than the Swords, making each overhead smash about two and a half seconds, plus the slight delay after the attack when you cannot do anything but move. A new Hammer will have 100 energy power, and each swing takes around or a bit more than 12. Some will take closer to 8.

Single WieldEdit

Being so stocky and unwieldy, the Gravity Hammer can only be single wielded, obviously.

SubtletyEdit

The sheer size and lack of subtlety of the Hammer make it easy to find whoever has it, as it is shown in their hands or on their back, as well as the fact that it makes a very distinct noise when swung.

The 7 Wood Golf ClubEdit

The 7 Wood Golf Club is essentially a variant of the Gravity Hammer. They are held and swung in the same way, and appear to have the same effect. The Golf Club does not make ripples in space when swung, and looks like an actual golf club, albeit a large one. The Golf Club is rarely seen, appearing only in certain Grifball games.

General TipsEdit

      • The Gravity Hammer usually loses to the shotgun at close range. However, on maps with Shields such asEpitaph, the user can stand up the shield wall and lunge out for a one-hit kill if someone comes too close with the protection from the shield. If the user is right up to the shield, the enemy cannot shoot the player without actually walking through, but if they Melee, they'll lose because the Gravity Hammer can one-hit them. You can also do this with a Bubble Shield. (Does not work against the Sword, which has a longer lunge). The Gravity Hammer is also useful for knocking people off the side of ramps and surprise attacks from around a corner.
      • I don't recommend using the GH, because, one, it makes you an easy target. Two, it's only effective against 2 things: Vehicles, and crowds. And three, it sucks. But to use it in your advantage in close combat, simply throw a grenade at them - they will hesitate - you go close give them a taste then pull your gun out and finish them off.
      • It takes extroardinary timing, but you can rebound rockets back to the firer, leaving them thinking WTF.--B63 19:10, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
      • In ways the Gravity Hammer (GH) is a very weak weapon. Only few people will get close enough to hit when you're running around with the GH. The trick to turn this weapon into a strong destroyer is of course to be stealthy. Stay in small complex rooms where people have no chance of seeing you, and only - I cant stress this enough - only use your Radar. This makes it possible to intercept and kill enemies even before you see them yourself. Also if you're hiding in a room always crouch, because that makes you invisible to other people's radar. When using the GH the radar is your best friend. And remember; people knowing that you have this weapon will never try to get close to you, so forget them and find new targets. Also move around all the time, else you will get nade. This video illustrates my point, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUdPb_UUreA. Go [2min,30sec] or [6min,30sec] into the video because this is were he starts thinking. They will try to go killing the sniper in close combat but the GH kills them every time. Anyhow this tactic is slowly and boring but this IS the way to use the GH. --III Pornstar III
      • Looking at the ground and then pulling the trigger will knock you slightly into the air; If the player looks at the ground, pulls the trigger and crouch jumps he can go much higher than what a "normal" crouch jump allows.
      • Hitting the "B-button" (default melee) doesn't use up battery charge for the hammer, but in doing so, the player loses the "splash" damage and cannot kill in one hit like when using the right trigger melee.
      • If a Rocket from a Rocket Launcher is fired at the player with the Gravity Hammer, the player wielding the Gravity Hammer can deflect the Rocket harmlessly to the side, unless you are near a wall. This also goes for grenades.
      • If you miss with the Gravity Hammer, it is not wise to desperately bash nothing while the opponent is already aware and inflicting damage on you. Switch to your secondary and diminish the remainder of his shields. -- Midnight Rakdo
      • The Gravity Hammer has a lunge. Only attack when your reticule turns red, otherwise you will just be knocking your opponent backwards with little to no damage.
      • The Gravity Hammer is very effective against a charging Vehicle
      • I don't think this was mentioned yet but, the Shotgun will beat the gravity hammer as long as the person wielding the shotty has full shields. --Azovax

If you jump just as you are about to be hit, you MIGHT be able to live --- Golden eye kid

      • The Grav Hammer's knockback effect can be very useful on maps like Guardian and Epitaph. Even though you only do minimal damage, if you can knock someone over the low railing of the walkways you still get credit for the kill. Using the knockback effect to catapult living foes into the abyss drastically extends the "kill" range of the Hammer. --Xiedo 05:20, 13 December 2007 (CET)
      • When using the GH in a very open area, deploy a bubble shield and destroy them as they attempt to walk through the bubble shield to destroy you. However, while in a bubble shield, you are very vulnerable to sword lunges.
      • If you get stuck in something like hammers on Narrows, which I often do, use plasma and sticks! also, only attack when your reticule turns RED. otherwise the opponent just gets lifted a bit. All too often I can get a kill because someone was too eager to bash me to bits. have patience.
      • The Grav Hammer has big splash damage, that is that the attack affects an area. Rack up the big kills by running into a crowded area (eg. center of guardian, or the elevator rooms) and start bashing away. In fact, this is the most common way I've seen killionares earned.
      • The gravity hammer is a giant killer if the person doesn't have Overshields, but don't try to beat down the person to much. Camp with it, you will get so many more kills. -- Zeknight3
      • Using the hammer in Rat's Nest can be VERY helpful. The best thing to do is to go outside (Like where the Rocket Launcher is) and find a place to hide where you are facing the Pelican side. From there, try to make sure you can see on coming vehicles while staying hidden. If done right, you can pop out at JUST the right time (while not being Splattered- b/c it's happened to me for swinging too late), then you could either destroy the Warthog, or better yet, if not a direct hit- they will go flying off the level and die! Gamertag~ Fantasy3393
      • Honestly, I wouldn't recommend using the gravity hammer because after you attack, you have that time where the hammer is in the ground and you can't do anything. This leaves you extremely vulnerable.
      • The Grav. Hammer can also kill through walls if the walls are small enough. (Ex: the walls were people camp with shotty by the shielded doors on epitaph) Try it sometime.
      • If two people hit each other at the same time with the hammer as long as they don't die they each go flying away. Watch out for ledges when in Hammers matches. [3]Lord of the Bleak [4]Talk
      • If you just finished playing Grifball and are now playing against shielded opponents, it is easy to forget you need to be closer now to kill people with the hammer.
      • This may not help you out but it is possible to hit a rocket that is heading towards you with a Gravity Hammer. Test it out when you're just wasting time in forge or custom games. After the rocket is hit, it spins out of control and explodes. PrimeYoshi & User:XxXDAMOXxX
      • You can deflect rockets, scorpion fire, wraith fire, grenades, and fuel rod blasts with the Gravity Hammer. --Quarp

Anti-Vehicular WeaponEdit

The Gravity hammer has one trait that not many other weapons have, especially not close range weapons. It is very affective for destroying vehicles.

      • The hammer is so powerful that when swung, anything close by goes flying. This is very useful when a vehicle is driving to the side of you or trying to splatter you. If you hit it in time, you will flip the vehicle and may destroy it. That depends on how large the vehicle is.
      • The hammer is also very good against tanks. If you can get behind, say, a wraith, then you can swing away, and it will not be able to turn around. You will destroy it very quickly, and will not have used any precious spartan laser ammo doing so. --Dasn1per

ProsEdit

      1. If you ambush a person, no matter what you always win (If the person had an Overshield. . . it actually takes almost all of the shield down)
      2. If a Rocket from a Rocket Launcher is fired at the player with the Gravity Hammer, the player wielding the Gravity Hammer can deflect the Rocket harmlessly to the side, unless you are near a wall. -- Anonymous
      3. It can disrupt vehicles course by smashing them to a wall
      4. Does more damage than a sword and is able to take down overshields instantly.

ConsEdit

      1. Everybody knows you have it, whether you are equipping it or it's in your secondary place, it's just massive. However, this can be averted by getting in a vehicle, particularly tanks and aircraft. For light ground vehicles, simply enter the vehicle, get out, immediately press the Y button and get back in. If you did it correctly, your weapon will not be on your back. For the Warthog, this will only work with the driver seat and the gunner.
      2. When ever attacking someone with the gravity hammer, there is a slight delay of actually attacking because you're swinging it and that takes a bit of time.
      3. Mauler or a Shotgun can actually kill you before you kill the enemy.

Dismal's Gravity Hammer KnowledgeEdit

The Gravity Hammer is really only a stealth weapon. If you alert the enemy to your presence you will be killed. Ambushes are a great way to use the weapon.

Why They Don't Have X-Ray VisionEdit

This is a great way to use the Hammer's power to it's fullest potential. Plus, few other ways can the Grav Hammer be used without getting killed. It's simple; Stand next to a high traffic door and wait. Whenever an enemy comes by, blast them to kingdom come. Of course, after you do this any enemy worth their salt will know your plan and try to stop you. Switching what side of the door your standing by helps. Eventually you'll have to find a new door. Grenades are your enemy. If they aren't getting close enough to kill you, don't panic. They will think you left and come through. Besides, they have only so many grenades. Close range, instant kill weapons can also do you in. If the person guesses correctly what side you are on, an aware and trigger happy dude with a shotgun may prevail. Standing further back from the door or further into the room will mess with your enemy's aim. They won't expect you to be further away then they thought. After one person almost gets you, time to find a new door, and start smashing away. Beware of large groups. While you kill one the others can do you in. Retreat is a tactic used by the intelligent, not the brave fool who tries to take out the whole enemy team with a pistol. Be smart. Run for your life.

Those Fools With the Bubble ShieldEdit

Contrary to popular belief, the Bubble Shield does not protect you that well from everything, like Swords, Flamethrowers, and Grav Hammers. Hit the shield with a hammer and people inside take damage. It takes more power and time, but you can either kill them or drive them away without endangering yourself. Most people think they are safe in a Bubble Shield. They will learn the hard way.

Flaming HammersEdit

This requires two people, one with a Grav Hammer and the other with a Flamethrower. The person with the Hammer has to stay very still or they will kill themselves, their teammate, or both. The person with the Flamethrower has to have good aim. Use the Flamethrower to set the tip of the Hammer on fire. For the person with the Hammer, visibility decreases because the light from the fire is blinding and your shields slightly decrease, but you don't die. When you move fire trails from the Hammer and when you swing it flames trail in an arc from the Hammer towards what you hit.

BaseballEdit

When you have a hammer and someone is trying to splatter you, pull out your Hammer. As long as any guns aren't about to kill you, just stand and wait. Right before the vehicle hits you use your hammer. It stops anything but Tanks and maybe aircraft, though why someone would try to splatter you with a plane remains beyond me. The larger the vehicle the shorter distance it flies. Also, aiming downwards has a greater effect on lighter vehicle but may not stop heavier ones.

Mongoose BaseballEdit

Have a buddy get in a Mongoose and try to splatter you at full speed. Right before they hit you use the Hammer. The Mongoose works the best because it is so light. This should not kill anyone but will knock out the Mongoose driver's shields. When done properly you can knock someone across the map, or off of it. InSandtrap people have been knocked into the minefield, or with lower initial shields, their corpse was launched almost all the way to the huge wall in the backround.

Template:Quote Mjolnir (literally, "that which smashes") is the hammer wielded by Thor, the Norse god of thunder.  Odin, chief of the Norse gods, ordered the dwarfs to forge Mjolnir. The blacksmiths Eitri, Brok, and Buri used the core of a star as the mold. In the process the star exploded and almost took Midgard (Earth) with it; that event may explain the extinction of the dinosaurs, about 65 million years ago. Although powerful in and of itself, the hammer also received several potent spells from Odin, who slew the frost giant Laufey with it. Much later, Mjolnir was bequeathed to Thor, after he proved himself worthy through several trials. With few exceptions, Thor has carried Mjolnir throughout his adventures. Thus, the history of Mjolnir is the history of Thor. Although Asgard was destroyed in Ragnarok, Thor, and thus the hammer, survived. DESIGNATION: T-2 ENERGY WEAPON/HAMMER

MANUFACTURER: RECOVERED FROM FIELD (ORIGINALLY SACRED PROMISSORY)AMMUNITION TYPE: ELECTROMAGNETIC ENERGYAMMUNITION SIZE: N/A

THE T-2 GRAVITY HAMMER, THOUGH RARELY ENCOUNTERED IN RECENT YEARS, IS A POWERFUL CLOSE-RANGE WEAPON HAILING FROM THE TOTEMISTIC TRADITIONS OF THE PREVIOUS COVENANT SPECIES KNOWN AS THE JIRALHANAE. THIS HAMMER MAINTAINS A SHOCK-FIELD-GENERATING GRAVITY DRIVE THAT INCREASES DAMAGE ON IMPACT AND CAN MANIPULATE LOCALIZED ENERGY FIELDS.

Properties Edit

Mjolnir itself is already extremely durable and nigh invulnerable like the Earth metal Adamantium or the Olympian metal Adamantine, and combined with the various enchantments placed upon it by Odin, is for all intents and purposes, indestructible. It has survived heat as extreme as the heart of suns, blasts powerful enough to destroy planets, and it has contained energy sufficient enough to destroy an entire galaxy and even energy sufficient enough to destroy one fifth of the Universe. Mjolnir also grants its user, such as Thor, countless mystical attributes and powers such as manipulation of the fundamental forces of the Universe such as the electromagnetic spectrum{{r, gravityTemplate:R etc. Mjolnir can be used both offensively and defensively. Thor often uses the hammer as a physical weapon, with almost nothing being capable of withstanding a hammer blow or throw. It has been described as impacting with sufficient force to "destroy mountains"Template:R and has proven capable of shattering the armor of a Celestial.Template:R A rare exception is primary adamantium. [1]  A few other examples of the countless abilities Thor has shown with Mjolnir are: The Universal weapon is capable of various effects such as energy blasts, forcefields, flight, and changing the structure of matter. It is made of extremely hard material.

Worthiness EnchantmentEdit

This enchantment surrounding Mjolnir prevents it from being wielded by anyone save those who have been found worthy.A failsafe measure shocks unauthorized users. Thus far, this includes Thor, the Red Norvell, Beta Ray Bill, and Captain America. To anyone else, Mjolnir cannot be lifted from the ground nor wrested from Thor’s grip. Those who are deemed worthy are able to wield Thor's powers. Captain America said "I've never wielded such limitless power before!"{{r| "It's almost intoxicating!"Template:R As the true master of Mjolnir, Thor can also will unto others the ability to wield the mystical hammer, bypassing the worthiness enchantment, and also empower them with his own godly abilities.
